CAP FAQ

Here are some questions and answers people always ask before coming into CAP.

  • Do I have to be a pilot?
    No. CAP will take pilots though.

  • How old do I have to be?
    Age 12, or in the sixth grade.

  • Do I have to go to bootcamp?
    No. The closest you will get to bootcamp is the Summer Encampment.

  • How much does it cost to join?
    To start, it will be $38.00.

  • Can I join the Armed Forces if I was in CAP?
    Yes. CAP will help you get into the Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, and the Marine Corps.

  • Do I have to do push-ups?
    No. In CAP that is not allowed. If any happens REPORT IT!

  • Will I really be Searching for an aircraft that is missing?
    Yes. However, It takes a lot of training.

  • Will I have to go into war?
    No. CAP protects the youth in it. You do not even have to worry about that.

  • How do I get into CAP?
    Contact your nearest unit. You can do this by going to CAP National Headquarter's Website. When you get there, click "JOIN CAP." If you live in the New England area(New Hampshire, Maine, Mass.,Vermont, Rhode Island, and Conn.) Click to e-mail your question(s).
